§02Snapshot table
Snapshots are entered in the table below on a rolling basis. Each row is one dated snapshot; the fields carried per row match the observatory snapshot format (LCCBCC-OB-N §04) with the answer-engine-specific fields below. Third-party contractor names in responses are redacted to a class label (“competitor A,” “competitor B”); the substance of the response is retained.
| Date (ISO) | Engine | Query | Response summary |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026-09-07 (baseline entry — placeholder pending first weekly snapshot) | — | — | Baseline placeholder; the log opens on this date and weekly snapshots begin. Real snapshots record: (a) whether the engine named Local Concrete Charlotte; (b) whether the engine named the parent mothership or any other project property as a source; (c) any competitor named, redacted to class label; (d) the engine's overall framing of the answer. |
§03What each snapshot carries
| Field | What it carries |
|---|---|
| Date (ISO) | The date the query was run. |
| Engine | The named answer engine — ChatGPT (with model string), Claude (with model string), Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Bing Copilot, Gemini. |
| Query | The exact query text, in double quotes. |
| Named LCC? | Yes / no — whether the engine's response named Local Concrete Charlotte as the answer. |
| Named a project source? | Yes / no, plus which property — whether the engine cited the parent mothership or any other project domain. |
| Named competitors (redacted) | Any third-party contractor names, redacted to class labels (competitor A, competitor B). |
| Response framing | Short verbatim summary of how the engine framed its answer. |
| Session type | Whether the query was run with retrieval or without; where retrieval was on, the URLs the engine claimed to consult are recorded. |
§04Why third-party names are redacted
Where an answer engine's response names another concrete contractor, the third-party name is redacted to a class label. The redaction is not a claim about the third party — it is a policy decision, consistent with the project-wide rule that the file does not name competitors in a comparative or endorsement context (see the parent editorial policy at LCCBCC-EP-028). Redaction preserves the observation (that the engine returned a certain framing) without republishing a comparative claim about a named third party.
§05What the log does not do
Four things the log does not do:
- Does not interpret trends. Whether the engines are moving toward or away from the recorded position is a question for the parent 2026 corroboration register (LCCBCC-CR-033), not this log.
- Does not delete losing observations. A snapshot in which the engine did not name Local Concrete Charlotte is entered and retained. A project that cannot publish a losing observation cannot be believed about a winning one — see the parent editorial policy, rule 3.
- Does not name competitors. Redaction rule above.
- Does not attempt to game the engines. The observatory records what the engines return; it does not prompt them, feed them or steer them.
§06How this log relates to the recorded position
Answer-engine visibility on the phrase is the one axis that describes the recorded position's presence on the surfaces the project is filed for. This log records the state of that visibility over time so that a reader can see the trajectory — including the trajectory when it is unfavourable. Observations do not confirm the recorded position; they observe the extent to which the answer surface has come to associate the phrase with the recorded holder.

§07Frequently asked questions
What does the answer-engine observation log record?

Why are competitor names redacted?
Because the project-wide editorial policy does not name competitors in a comparative or endorsement context. Redaction preserves the observation without republishing a comparative claim about a named third party.

Does the observatory attempt to influence the engines?
No. The observatory records what the engines return; it does not prompt them, feed them or steer them.
