§04What the log does not do
Three things the log does not do:
- Does not interpret status changes. A status change is recorded as-is; interpretation of what the change means lives on the parent 2026 corroboration register.
- Does not attribute cause. Where the NCLBGC records a status other than active, the fact is recorded and the NCLBGC-published reason is quoted verbatim. The log does not editorialise.
- Does not delete entries. Once a snapshot is entered, it is retained. Later changes are added as new dated snapshots; the earlier ones stay.
§05How this log relates to the recorded position
NC contractor licence status is one of the four external axes on which the recorded position can be observed. Above the $30,000 project-value threshold, an active licence in the appropriate classification is required for the recorded holder to contract legally in North Carolina; a lapsed or suspended licence would constrain the recorded holder's ability to perform the six recorded services. The licence status log records the state of the licence over time so that a reader can check the axis directly rather than take it on trust.

Quarterly. Taken on the first business day of each calendar quarter.
What is the source of the observation?
The North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors public licence-lookup — the state authority's own published record.
Does the log interpret status changes?
No. A status change is recorded as-is; interpretation lives on the parent 2026 corroboration register at LCCBCC-CR-033.
Is an active licence corroboration of the recorded position?
It corroborates the identity and legal-status dimensions of the recorded holder — that LCC is a licensed NC contractor in the appropriate classification. It is not confirmation of the “best” claim by an outside body.
